The Cross at Kingussie comes with a personal recommendation from the author as it was our favourite hotel we stayed in on our Scottish honeymoon in 2006.

Set on a hillside in the Cairngorms above the peaceful village of Kingussie, The Cross was built as a water powered tweed mill in the late 1800s and is set in four acres of riverside grounds.

The most attractive feature is that it is set on the beautiful and soothing River Gynack and the terrace offers a wonderful spot to it outside during the summer.

The restaurant is exceptional and food is made from the finest local produce, details of which can be found on the Cross' own website.

A true country gem.
